Chhattisgarh: After commemorating the first anniversary of its protest against the three farm laws, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SMK) leader Rakesh Tikait arrived in Chhattisgarh today morning to address the Kisan Mahapanchayat organized by Chattisgarh Kisan Mahasangh in Rajim at 11 am.

Under the leadership of Tejram Vidroh, Kisan union members have made all preparation at the Rajim Mandi complex to accommodate 35000-40000 farmers that would arrive for the Mahapanchayat. National leaders like Rakesh Tikait, Dr Darshanpal Singh, Yogendra Yadav, Yudheer Singh, Dr Sunilam, Medha Patekar, Baldev Singh Sirsa would be addressing the gathering today.

The Mahapanchayat aims to pass a resolution that would demand the central govt guaranteed MSP by withdrawing the contentious farm laws. Apart from the central govt, the gathering would also discuss and delineate amendments it demands in agricultural reforms by the state administration.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA and former minister Brijmohan Agrawal called the event a “state-sponsored” one with the Chhattisgarh CM and Congress ministers expressing support to save their faces.

On Monday, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha union observed a national shutdown to mark one year since president Ramnath Kovind gave his assent to the contentious farm laws opposed by the farmers of the nation.
