Kawardha: The Lalpur murder case, where a cow vigilante, Sadharam Yadav, was brutally killed on the night of the 20th, has sparked widespread protests in Kawardha. Various groups, including VHP, Bajrang Dal, and members of the Hindu community, have staged a complete district-wide shutdown in opposition to the heinous act. Expressing solidarity, local businesses have also closed their doors, creating inconvenience for the general public in need of essentials.
Kailash Sharma, the district executive president of VHP, highlighted the incident, stating that Sadharam Yadav was murdered on the night of the 20th. In response to this tragedy, protestors are demanding justice and accountability. The police swiftly arrested six suspects, including a minor, on charges related to the murder. The government, in an effort to support the victim’s family, provided financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh, which was handed over to the family two days ago.
In addition to seeking capital punishment for the perpetrators, protestors are urging the government to grant a compensation of one crore, provide a government job to a family member, and carry out the execution in a similar manner as the crime – hanging. The demonstrators are vocal about their demand for justice and are steadfast in their opposition to the silence surrounding the Lalpur murder case.
The Lalpur Kala village, within the jurisdiction of Kawardha Kotwali police station, witnessed the discovery of the lifeless body of Sadharam Yadav on the night of December 20. The 50-year-old victim was employed as a shepherd at a local cow shelter. The police swiftly unraveled the details within 24 hours, arresting five individuals, one of whom is a minor, in connection with the crime. The altercation between Sadharam Yadav and the accused escalated to the point where they used deadly weapons to strangle him before fleeing the scene.
The incident has not only shocked the local community but has also brought to light the need for swift justice and increased security measures to prevent such tragic events in the future. The ongoing protests signify the collective call for accountability and action against those responsible for this reprehensible act.
