Durg: A journalist was attacked by a BJP leader and district Panchayat member of Patan area, a source said. According to police officials, journalist Dhirendra Goswami was assaulted by Mordhwaj Monu Sahu.

Kin of the journalist has lodged a police complaint and demanded a probe. It is reported that the incident took place on Thursday, in the Wood Island Colony of Amleshwar, where sources say the journalist tried to solve an argument between two unknown sources.

Mon Sahu has been arrested and is being interrogated. He alleges that the police are biased in their investigation and has held him illicitly.

Meanwhile, the capital has seen a score of journalists taking to the streets and demanding justice. Injured Dhirendra is currently being treated at a private hospital, sources inform.

On the same day, the CG police detained Raipur based journalist Nilesh Sharma for his popular political satire. He has been accused of spreading fake news against the ruling party in the state.

Catering to the growing intolerance, one of the little known Congress worker Khilwan Nishad lodged a complaint against Sharma and accused him of using derogatory language against the Congress leaders of the state. The cyber cell of the Police immediately acted upon the complaint and arrested Sharma late in the night.
