Raipur: Jal Jeevan Mission has impacted numerous households of India including the rural households of Chhattisgarh. 75 percent of the rural households in the state are now getting tap water. Chhattisgarh has now provided tap water to 49 lakh 98 thousand 571 households in the state under the mission. Till date, the target of providing drinking water through pipeline to 37 lakh 49 thousand 556 houses has been achieved, which is more than 75 percent of the set target.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health Engineering Minister Arun Sao have expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India for this important campaign of providing safe drinking water to the villages. He said that work will be done expeditiously in the state to achieve 100 percent target under Jal Jeevan Mission. Every guarantee of Modi will be fulfilled in the state.
It is noteworthy that before the start of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state, as of August 15, 2019, only six percent i.e. three lakh 19 thousand 741 rural houses had water supply through pipelines. After the start of the mission work, it has now reached 75 percent. In 2827 villages out of 19 thousand 663 villages of the state, water is reaching every house through taps. Work in this direction is going on at a rapid pace in 16 thousand 736 villages. Along with homes, tap water is reaching 43 thousand 974 schools, 41 thousand 719 Anganwadis and 17 thousand 320 gram panchayats and government hospitals in rural areas. This is 95 percent, 91 percent and 68 percent of the total schools, Anganwadis, Gram Panchayats and hospitals respectively in rural areas.
