The investigation has intensified after the raid on Gutkha traders of Chhattisgarh. The State GST Department claims that till now tax evasion of more than seven crores has been revealed. Businessmen have also agreed to pay this tax. In the past one month, the department’s team had simultaneously raided the offices and factories of gutkha traders in many districts including Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh.
Officials of the State GST Department are examining the returns of all the big Gutkha traders of the state for several years. Many shocking information is coming to light in this. The turnover of almost all the businessmen is in crores, but it was being shown very less in the returns. Gutkha from Chhattisgarh is being sent to many states of the country, but this information was not being given in the returns. This is the reason why the department team conducted physical verification by raiding several places simultaneously. This fraud was exposed only after raids at about a dozen places. Now this matter is being investigated by forming a team of officers.
