Raipur: Shortly after a telephonic conversation between Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on April 26, services of six trains were resumed on Tuesday.
According to Chief Minister’s Office, operation of six major passenger trains passing through Chhattisgarh namely 18237/18238 Chhattisgarh Express, 12807/12808 Samta Express, and 12771/12772 Secunderabad-Raipur-Secunderabad Express are said to be restored.
CM Baghel took to his Twitter handle expressing gratitude towards swift response by the Centre.
CM Baghel in a telephonic conversation with Union Railway Minister had urged restoration of services for the 23 passengers trains that were halted in view of maintainance works. The South East Central Railway, Bilaspur had issued an order on April 23, which stated express and local trains passing through Chhattisgarh had been stopped for the next one month from April 24, 2022.
Baghel in his conversation apprised minister Ashwini Vaishnaw of the difficulties faced by the commuter and urged earliest resumption in view of public interest.
The Chhattisgarh government wrote to the Railway Board urging it to continue the operation of local trains passing through the state. According to the state government, no alternative arrangement has been made for the passengers before the closure of services of these trains.
Chaos has taken over railway stations in CG since 23 April as several complaint of transport inconvenience during the summer holidays and marriage season. A major population of the state rely on trains to commute on a regular basis.
