Mahasamund. Divya Rangari, a promising girl from Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, has brought glory to India at the international level. Divya and her team have hoisted the Indian flag in the Under-16 Asian Women’s Basketball Championship 2025 held in Malaysia. Representing India in the championship, Divya and her team displayed excellent performance and won the gold medal, bringing India back to the tournament after 8 years. This moment was a proud moment for Divya and her team, who were playing for India.
India competed with 8 countries in this tournament held in Malaysia from 13th to 19th September. Divya and her team played with full strength and made India victorious. Among the players playing for India, Divya Rangari of Mahasamund was the only player from Chhattisgarh. Divya, who returned to Mahasamund after winning the gold medal for India in the FIFA Basketball Tournament Championship, was given a grand welcome. The entire city residents, sports lovers, public representatives, social workers and people from different communities gave her a grand welcome at various places. The sound of music and fireworks along with slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai kept echoing all along the way.
People welcomed Divya with garlands and sweets. Everyone met her and wished her a bright future. During this, Divya gave a message to players who retreat in the face of difficulties, saying that there is no need to panic and leave the field in every situation; instead, victory comes only from staying there and fighting. Divya credited her success to her coach, her parents, and the members of the basketball association. Her family is also feeling proud of Divya’s success.
Divya’s father says, “People who didn’t know me before now recognize me by my daughter’s name. What greater joy could a father have than this?” The Basketball Association also expressed its happiness over Divya’s success and pledged to create a better platform for every player in the future.
