Balrampur. Cases of illegal opium cultivation are continuously emerging in Chhattisgarh. After the Durg district, now a case of opium cultivation has also been exposed in the Balrampur district. The discovery of illegal opium cultivation on approximately five acres of land in Ghosara village, Tripuri Gram Panchayat, Kusmi police station area, has caused a stir in the area.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a joint team of police and the revenue department arrived at the scene and began an investigation. According to preliminary information, a person from Jharkhand was cultivating opium by leasing tribal land. The administration is investigating the entire matter and attempting to identify those involved. Police officials say that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.

According to reports, complaints of illegal opium cultivation had been received in the area for a long time. Based on this, Kusmi police, along with revenue and administrative officials, raided Ghosara village. The team arrived at the scene and inspected the fields, where large numbers of opium plants were found. The administration has initiated action to destroy the opium crop on the spot.

Police engaged in identifying people involved in illegal farming

The police have also collected evidence and are working to identify those involved in this illegal cultivation. Police officials stated that after the investigation, strict action will be taken against those involved in the illegal opium cultivation under the NDPS Act. The entire police team, including the SDM of Kusmi, was present at the scene during the operation.
