Bijapur: Naxalites have carried out a major incident in Bijapur, a Naxal-affected area of Chhattisgarh. Naxalites have blown up the vehicle of soldiers returning from a joint operation with an IED blast after thorough planning. 8 soldiers and a driver have been martyred in this incident. All the martyred soldiers are said to be from Dantewada DRG. Bastar IG P Sundarraj has confirmed this incident.
According to information received from Bastar police, Naxalites have carried out an IED blast on Kutru-Bedre road of Bijapur. The joint operation party of Dantewada, Narayanpur and Bijapur was returning after conducting the operation. On 6 January at around 14:15, near village Ambeli under police station Kutru of Bijapur district, Maoists carried out an IED blast and blew up the vehicle of the security forces, in which 08 Dantewada DRG jawans and a driver, a total of 09, have been martyred.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw’s statement has come out on this big incident. He said that this is a cowardly act of the Naxalites and this attack has been done in desperation. I pay tribute to the soldiers who have been martyred. The martyrdom of the soldiers will not go in vain. We will complete the campaign to make the state Naxal-free by March 2026.
