Raipur police busted a large gambling operation and discovered legal gambling was occurring in an open field close to where gambling was outlawed—at least at this location. Following a tip-off received on April 6th (2026), Raipur Rural Police raided a location located near the village of Tokaro which borders Raipur and Dhamtari Districts.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior police officials including the Police Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent of Police for the new Raipur district. When the police arrived at the location, numerous individuals involved in the gambling operation attempted to flee into the surrounding open field. The police were able to capture two of the individuals after a short pursuit, but all others got away from law enforcement.

The two individuals arrested were identified by police as resident of Bhilai, the first was identified as being 34 years old and known as Rahul Singh while the other was identified as being 36 years old and known as Ritesh Kumar both reside in Telibandha and have been charged with activities that violated the Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act (00000).

During the raid, Raipur police seized what they classified as a high dollar illegal gambling operation and seized over ₹6,34 lakh in cash and ₹42.14 lakh worth of goods including a Mercedes automobile with registered license plates CG 07 CU 9944, two iPhones, and a deck of playing cards.
