In Janjgir Champa, heavy, continuous rainfall over the past week has led to the submergence of the Amartal village paddy storage center. As a result, an estimated 4 lakh quintals of government-owned paddy have been soaked, germinated, and are now rotting.
Despite the expenditure of crores of rupees by the marketing department, the paddy was not adequately protected. MLA Beas Kashyap has criticized the government and administration for failing to safeguard what he termed the “hard-earned money of the farmers.” He is now demanding action against the officials and employees responsible for this significant loss.
