Raipur: In a significant development, the inauguration ceremony for six state-of-the-art medical machines in the ACI Cardiac, Chest, and Vascular Surgery Department of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, affiliated with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, took place on Tuesday. The event was presided over by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Shyam Bihari Jayaswal.
These cutting-edge medical devices, provided under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the ICICI Foundation, focus on treating diseases related to the circulatory system, including the heart, chest, and vascular conditions. The unveiling ceremony was attended by prominent figures such as Purandar Mishra, the MLA of North Raipur, Motilal Sahu, the MLA of Rural Raipur, Janak Prasad Pathak, the Commissioner of Medical Education, Dr. Vishnu Dutt, the Director of Medical Education, Dr. Trupti Nagaria, the Superintendent of Medical College, Dr. S. B. S. Netam, the Head of Pathology Department, Dr. Arvind Nerle, and the Head of Cardiology Department, Dr. Smita Shrivastav, among others, including the regional head of ICICI Foundation, Vivekanand Dubey, and the Health Minister.
Minister Jayaswal, while inaugurating these advanced medical tools, expressed that the ICICI Foundation’s provision of these state-of-the-art machines to the largest government hospital’s Cardiac Surgery Department in the state is a commendable contribution. He emphasized that these devices would significantly enhance the treatment options for patients suffering from heart, chest, and vascular diseases, making procedures like open-heart surgery and bypass surgery more accessible.
Drawing a parallel with the construction of the mythical Ram Setu, Minister Jayaswal underscored the collective effort required in the healthcare sector. He praised the contributions of not only the doctors but also the nursing and paramedical staff, highlighting the crucial role played by each employee involved in healthcare services.
Dr. Krishna Kant Sahu, the Head of the Cardiac, Chest, and Vascular Surgery Department, provided detailed information about the newly installed equipment. These include advanced audio/visual alarm configurations, ECG, RSPV, SPO2, NIBP, IBP monitors, a central station with six monitors from Philips for adult and pediatric cardiac surgeries, and LED-equipped spotlights in the Cardiothoracic Department for small surgical procedures. These machines, he explained, will greatly enhance the efficiency and precision of cardiac surgeries, with the department having conducted over 1250 operations since its inception in 2017.
