Raipur: On the initiatives of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, a public holiday has been declared today for realizing the significance of the Hareli festival. The festival is traditionally celebrated in rural areas with great enthusiasm. The farmers worship the agricultural implements used in farming, and children and youth in the village enjoy the cart.
In a series of tweets, Chhattisgarh’s chief minister Bhupesh Baghel wished people on Hareli Tihar and also announced the beginning of the state Olympics.
“Today, from the first Tihar of Chhattisgarh, traditional sports are starting across the state. This time more than 30 lakh people will participate in the Chhattisgarh Olympics, including single and team categories”, read one of his tweet.
Chhattisgarhi Olympics is also being started to involve more and more people in this folk culture festival. The Olympics that started last year gained immense popularity and in view of this, Chhattisgarh Olympics 2023-24 have started on the day of Hareli Tihar. This is even more exciting as two new sports; rope jumping and wrestling have been included in a single category. Now, there will be competition in 16 sports and the rewards will be given by Khelbo-Jeetbo-Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh.
