Raipur: As the latest development in the case against suspended IPS officer GP Singh, it is learnt that the Anti-Corruption Bureau had named his family and a family friend as a co-accused. Almost two months after being arrested in Noida, a 12,000-page charge sheet was submitted to the sessions court in Raipur on Tuesday.
The officers’ bail plea has been rejected several times by the HC and the SC, absconding IPS officer and former ACB chief was arrested on 11th January this year.
Singh’s lawyer, Ashutosh Pandey, said he was notified about the charge sheet on Tuesday evening. “The court, however, informed me that a prior consent from the Ministry of Home Affairs was pending so the court couldn’t take cognizance of the case,” he said.
ADG, GP Singh is accused of holding disproportionate assets and conspiring against the country. After a raid held by ACB and EOW in July last year, documents indicating the above possessions surfaced. The Raipur police officer is booked for sedition charges after a diary was found at his residence, which the police claim, has fictionalised accounts of government functionaries and other officers with the intention of creating unrest.
