Raipur: The Coronavirus pandemic has started spreading its wings full fledged in various districts of Chhattisgarh. After crawling almost to a negligible pace, the coronavirus pandemic is fast assuming a frightening speed in Chhattisgarh. The growth in the daily cases have witnessed a high spurt in the month of August.

In the past 25 days, Chhattisgarh saw a rise of  atleast 13,400 cases as compared to nearly 9,500 in the span of 4.5 months. The month August has also been proved to be grim reaper as it claimed atleast 165 lives, data from the health ministry showed.

The situation is so alarming that only Raipur has witnessed over 5000 cases in the last 25 days including many officials and health warriors have been tested positive for coronavirus.

Perturbed at the alarming rate, the pandemic was spreading in every nook and corner of the state, Chhattisgarh’s Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo urged to ramp up the testing and curb the community transmission as early as possible.

On Tuesday, Chhattisgarh witnessed the highest one day spike with 1287 new cases, this the tally rises to 23,341 in the state. The death toll in Chhattisgarh reached to 221 after 15 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours – the biggest spurt in a single day.

For the first time ever, on Tuesday, All the 28 districts of Chhattisgarh registered atleast 1 case. Raipur remains the worst hit district because of the pandemic in the state with over 8000 cases and 118 deaths so far.

Meanwhile, With 67,151 fresh cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 1,059 deaths in a single day, India’s tally has crossed 3.2 million. The death toll due to the viral disease has gone up to 59,449 and the number of active cases is 707,267, according to the health ministry.
