Raipur. Four promising players from Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district have brought laurels to Chhattisgarh and the country by giving a strong performance in the International Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Competition held in Pokhara city of Nepal. More than 300 players from seven countries, including India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Myanmar, participated in this competition organized by the International United Indian Sports Association. From India’s side, Suraj Rajput, Deepali Soni, Abhishek Tiwari and Anurag Jangde from Kawardha in Chhattisgarh participated in this prestigious competition and won gold medals.
In the bodybuilding competition, Suraj Rajput of Kabirdham defeated participants from seven countries and won the title of International Mr. Overall. Suraj, who has previously won medals in Mr. Chhattisgarh, Senior National Bodybuilding Championship and Powerlifting, is currently working as a coach in Kawardha’s “Bharat Health Club”. He is training about 50 youths for free. Suraj believes that this success is not just his, but of the entire Chhattisgarh. He said, “It is not easy to reach the international stage from a small town, but if there is passion in the mind and the guidance is right, then no destination is far.”
Deepali Soni, who became the first female gold-winning weightlifter from Kabirdham district, won in the 76 kg category. Sharing her experience, Deepali said, “The trip to Nepal was very inspiring for me. Going abroad for the first time and playing and waving the tricolor was a dream that has come true.” Deepali has previously won medals in national and state level competitions.
Abhishek Tiwari and Anurag Jangde also won gold
Abhishek Tiwari of the sub-junior category won the gold medal in the men’s 67 kg category. Abhishek said, “When the medal came around my neck, I remembered the hard work of my parents, Guruji and the entire district.” Meanwhile, 14-year-old Anurag Jangde won the gold medal in sub-junior weightlifting in the 109 kg category. Expressing his happiness, Anurag said, “I am very happy that I was able to win a gold medal for the country at such a young age. All this was possible because of my coach Suraj Sir.”
Credit for training given to Suraj Rajput
The credit for training these four players goes to Suraj Rajput, who has been preparing the youth of the district for international level by giving them free training with dedication for years. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Sports Minister Tank Ram Verma for his success and the achievements of the team, Suraj said that this achievement will become an inspiration for every youth of the district as well as the state.
