For all the bird lover, Chhattisgarh’s First-Ever Bird Fest at Bemetara Started on 31st January

Raipur: To conserve migratory birds, connect people with birds, and boost the natural environment the three days bird festival which is said to be the first-ever bird fest of Chattisgarh is being organized in the villages of Gidhwa and Parsada, of Bemetara district which gives shelter to birds of different species of the country and the world. It will run for three days from 31 January to 2 February. 

Forest and Climate Change Department Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Rakesh Chaturvedi inaugurated the bird festival organized under the ‘Hamar Chirai-Hamar Chinhari’ initiative at Gidhwa-Parsada wetlands, where thousands of birds from across the world arrive during wintertime.

PCCF Chaturvedi said that the birds often halt at wetlands of Gidhwa-Parsada between October and February, which is after the monsoon. These wetlands provide rich food to birds. They will try to organize the bird festival annually in the future.

“The major attraction in the bird fest will be Northern Pintail which migrates from the north to south pole. We have also arranged homestay for the participants to promote the concept of ecotourism here”, asserted Chaturvedi. Birds play an important role in biodiversity and environmental protection. Gidhwa has a unique world of 150 types of birds.
