Durg. A fire broke out at the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)’s Bhilai Steel Plant today, causing widespread panic. Eight workers were injured in the incident. Upon receiving information about the incident, more than half a dozen fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene. Senior officials also arrived at the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, a turbine exploded, then the fire spread. Some employees were caught in the fire. BSP employees managed to escape through a back door. Two BSP employees and three contract workers suffered minor injuries. One BSP employee suffered a leg fracture. After receiving first aid at the main medical post, the injured were referred to Sector 9 Hospital, where X-rays, ECGs, and other tests are being performed.
The cause of the fire at PBS 2 remains unknown. Two regular employees and eight contract laborers were caught in the blaze. The flames surrounded them from all sides. They ran up and down to save their lives, but couldn’t find a way out. They even went to the roof, but the smoke prevented them from seeing anything. A cable was then untied and tied to a window. With its help, everyone was lowered one by one onto the tin shed. This saved everyone’s life.
The workers were injured when their palms were rubbed against the cable, causing abrasions. One worker’s leg was fractured. The injured were treated at the main medical post and then taken to Sector 9 Hospital. The injured included Kirti Kumar Bhagat, Mahendra Kushwaha, Mahendra Jaiswal, Vaibhav, Omendra Kumar Tisda, Sushant, Manish, Awadhesh, and Shiv Mohan Tripathi.
