Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh: Richa Jogi, daughter-in-law of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and wife of Janta Congress Chhattisgarh JK state president Amit Jogi, has been booked under Section 10 of the Social Empowerment Act, 2013 by the Mungeli City Kotwali Police after sending an investigation report to the Deputy Commissioner.
Sant Kumar Netam had complained about the caste certificate of Richa Jogi, which was issued from the Mungeli district, during the Marwahi by-election. After the investigation, the Mungeli City Police Station registered an FIR. Apart from this, further action is also expected on the bureaucrat responsible for the fake caste certificate, which will also be processed after investigation.
There is an allegation against Smt. Richa Jogi that she got a caste certificate made stating that she belongs to the Gond caste, which was wrong. The State Level Certification Scrutiny Committee Scheduled Caste Development had given orders to the Collector to take action in this regard.
The issue of Richa Jogi’s caste came up during the Marwahi by-election when the Bhupesh Baghel government canceled the caste certificate of Amit Jogi, almost a fixed candidate from Chhajka. A caste certificate was issued to Mrs. Richa Jogi from Mungeli on 17 July 2020, which was later canceled on October 16, 2020.
After that, the matter reached the High-Level Verification Investigation Committee, Tribal Scheduled Caste Development. On 18th June 2021, this High Power Committee also accepted the report of the District Level Investigation Committee as correct and canceled the caste certificate of Smt. Richa Jogi.
The committee stated that they do not belong to the Gond caste but are recorded as Christians in the records of their forefathers. As per the recommendations of the State Level Certification Investigation Committee investigating caste, a crime has been registered against Smt. Richa Jogi at the Mungeli police station.
