Chhattisgarh: The sword of arrest is now hanging on the suspended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Chhattisgarh GP Singh. The final hearing will be held on November 10 in the Bilaspur High Court after 8 weeks for hearing. Disproportionate assets and sedition cases registered in Raipur and recovery from businessman in Bhilai will be heard together. Six days ago, the Supreme Court has lifted the stay on the arrest of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and refused to give relief had made a stern remark.

Earlier in August, Bhilai’s Smriti Nagar’s businessman lodged an FIR claiming that the suspended ADG GP Singh had demanded an extortion of Rs. 1 crore by threatening to implicate the business man in false case in the year 2015-16. Frightened from Singh, the businessman gave him Rs. 20 lakh. The Chhattisgarh police had registered a case under IPC 388 and other sections in the matter.

The hearing of the case is going on in a single bench of Justice NK Vyas. The Raipur Police has registered a case of disproportionate assets and sedition against them. He further filed a petition in the High Court regarding the matter, to which the Court refused to grant relief. Following this, Singh went to the Supreme Court.
