Chhattisgarh: After the brutal rape and molestation reports surfaced from the Divyang Kendra, the govt run hostels and ashrams would now have female employees deployed. The district collectors have been instructed to proceed with the appointment of females in charges and peons in all-girls hostels and ashrams. The hostel heads are instructed to stay connected through WhatsApp to deliver real-time updates of the hostel.

This decision stems from CM Baghel instruction that demanded inspection and implementation of strategies to curb unethical activities practised at govt run hostels. Collector Mahadev, Jashpur held a meeting with officers of all departments of the district and issued the order thereafter stating to engage duty officers for inspection.  As per the order, the entry of men has been restricted. Additionally, any relative or public representative will have to take permission from the hostel in charge to meet the residents. The order also specified no entry in the premises beyond 5 pm in the evening. Violation of any of the guidelines would be subjected to legal action the notice concluded.

After the meeting with the officials, the Baghel govt dismissed Collector Mahadev of his responsibilities at Jashpur district and elected him as Special Secretary in the Water resources department. Ritesh Kumar has taken charge as the new collector and is handed the responsibility of the Divyang Centre case.
