Farmers all over the state flocked the Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, at his residence where he was holding an office to receive the good news of the decision made by the government to transfer more than 10,000 crore paddy price difference amount to the bank accounts of farmers before Holi. This will be paid out under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, which will give happiness and festival joy to lakhs of agricultural families.
To show their gratitude, farmers lifted the Chief Minister to the paddy, which was a symbolic ceremony of appreciating him on behalf of the farming society of the state. Speaking at the meeting, CM Sai claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been concerned about the welfare of farmers and strived to increase their revenues. He highlighted that India was an agrarian country and that the development of the farmers is the foundation of the national growth.
Reviving the old reforms, he pointed to the beginning of the introduction of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) when the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was in power, and that allowed farmers to take institutional credit at low interests. Previously, most farmers had no option but to lend money to moneylenders at high-interest rates and in most cases, they are exploited. He further said that farmers can now enjoy the interests-free capital and better irrigation by the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is buying paddy at 21 quintals per acre at a price of 3,100 a kilogram or per quintal one of the highest prices in the country. It purchased 141 lakh metric tonnes of paddy this year out of more than 25.24 lakh farmers. The bonus transfer will be officially introduced at Bilaspur district on February 28 and will be celebrated throughout the development blocks throughout the state.
