Chhattisgarh: The protest and agitation against the farm laws completed six months on Wednesday, on account of which the farmers across the nation marked 26 May as ‘Black Day of Farmers.”
Chhattisgarh Kisan Mazdoor Sangh and other farmers’ organizations have geared up to hoist black flags atop their houses and protest by burning the PMs effigy and hoarding slogans on Wednesday. The farmers stand in support of the protesting farmer unions to mark six months of their agitation at Delhi borders against the Centre’s three contentious farm laws.
“On the call of United Kisan Morcha Delhi, constituent organisations of Chhattisgarh Kisan Mazdoor Sangh are celebrating Black Day on May 26,” said Tejram Vidrohi, convener of Chhattisgarh Kisan Mazdoor Sangh. The farmers at Raipur, Dhamtari, Gariabad, Mahasamund, Durg, and Bemetra will also convene to discuss measures to broaden the movement.
As stated by President of Kranthi Kari Kisan Union Darshan Pal, farmers across several states will protest by hoisting black flags, wearing black turbans, dupattas or clothes and by burning effigies of the Modi government.
On the political front, 12 parties including the INC have extended their support to the United Kisan Morcha. A letter of support was issued to the United Kisan Union signed by Congress National President Sonia Gandhi, JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, DMK chief MK Stalin, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren, National Conference chief Farooq Abdulla, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav, CPI chief D Raja, MARXIST Communist Party chief Sitaram Yechury.
