Rajim. Farmers of the region including Gariaband’s Fingeshwar block are facing a fertilizer crisis. Due to acute shortage of fertilizers in cooperative societies, farmers are forced to pay 200-300 rupees more per sack. Also, pressure is being exerted to forcibly take extra goods (loading) worth 500-600 rupees. Farmers are mentally disturbed and angry due to this economic exploitation. Regarding this, farmers have warned of agitation from February 14.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait)’s Fingeshwar Block Convenor Rekha Ram Sahu has said that if the fertilizer is not supplied by February 12, then farmers will protest from February 14. Farmers of the area will protest at Churena Chowk on the Rajim-Fingeshwar main road. The government and administration will be responsible for this. Written information has been given to the administration in this regard on February 10.

Meanwhile, the central government has invited the protesting farmers for a meeting which will be held on February 14 in Chandigarh to discuss their demands. this is a major breakthrough after a delegation led by the Joint Secreatary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare help a meeting with leaders of SKM and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
