Raipur: EOW conducted a series of raids across various regions in connection with the Mahadev betting case. Since the morning of today, officers from the EOW have carried out a multiplicity of raids conducted in the State in the cities of Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Kanker, and other cities as well. This operation implies a major commitment of security forces side by side with Task Crew members. The existence on the scene in Durg was followed by the bullion traders’ shops and house raids. Notwithstanding, this time around, the two teams have been busy with documentation and inquiries, aiming at shops and residences of the proprietors of the Saheli Jewelers and Alankar Jewelers.
This recent crackdown is part of the ongoing investigation into the Mahadev Betting case, where allegations of illegal betting activities have surfaced. The involvement of multiple cities suggests a widespread network associated with illicit gambling operations.
Security control has been strict, and many law enforcement personnel have been present when the EOW raiding teams do the raids. The purpose, placing the centre on the details and taking the statements of sources connected with the jewellery businesses suspected of fixed and illegal gambling, is the essence of an operation. Interestingly, these are not the first arrests in relation to this matter, where agents in charge of the trade of jewellery were also implicated and indicted. Earlier, ED and the IT department visited the place of Alankar Jewelers like Prakash Sankhla.
