Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel indicated today morning that electricity would become more expensive in the coming times. He further insisted that instead of Rs 3-4 thousand per tonne, coal will now come from abroad at Rs. 15-18 thousand. This has increased the production cost and is expected to increase further in coming times.
Although the full effect of the expensive is yet to come, the minister explained that closure of several passenger trains has hampered coal delivery. The coal mines in India are unable to fulfil the requirements and therefore, the central government has to import from abroad.
At present, electricity is 30 paisa in the state. The statement of electricity price hike has created a political stir wherein BJP is besieging the Congress government of the State, and Congress is blaming the central government. Former CM Dr. Raman Singh has also reminded Congress of their promise of half the electricity bill as per their election manifesto.
