DANTEWADA: The CG police detained eight naxals in connection to the Aranpur blast that killed 10 jawans and one civillian in CGs Dantewada district on April 26th. The fresh arrests have taken the count of accused naxals to 17 said sources.

As per the information shared, five out of the eight were arrested on May 17 while a minor and two others were detained on Friday during a search operation launched in the area the blast occured.

The five arrested on Wednesday identified as Masa Kawasi, Kosa Mandavi, Arjun Kunjam, Deva Madvi and Ganga Madvi, all natives of Pedka village were sent to three days remand following which on the expiry of their tenure they were produced once again along with the recently arrested naxals Bandi Madvi and Muya Kovasi. Collectively they have been sent to judicial custody by the court on fresh orders. The minor boy meanwhile, is sent to the Juvenile home.

Earlier on May 8th, seven maoists including three minors were arrested.

An FIR was registered under sections of Arms Act and Chhattisgarh special public security Act after the Maoists triggered an IED blast in Aranpur on a convoy of vehicles carrying jawans, leading to heavy casualties.
