Raipur: The ED on Friday conducted searches at 15 locations linked to the alleged gold smuggling nexus from Myanmar to West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
According to sources, the search is being carried out majorly at offices and residences of top gold traders and their associates. In Drug, CA Sunil Jain’s office in Khandelwal colony is undergoing a tedious search in connection to his association with Shree Shivam Jewellery Store. Others being raided include CA Rajendra Kothari’s office in Jeevan plaza, Saheli Jewellers at Sarfar Line, Navkar jewellers, Prakash Sankhla and Madan Jain. Mohini Jewellers in Rajnandgaon and Sumit Jewellers in Sadar Bazar are also under the scanner sources added.
The team of Ed officers from Nagpur is also speculated to have been raiding Textile traders Nakoda and several others in Raipur Pandri.
As per reports, the Enforcement Directorate suspects that the two states have become a hub for gold smuggling. There is no information on what has been recovered by the agency so far.
