Raipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued orders in the case of Naxal funding to confiscate property worth Rs 29.75 lakhs. The property was bought in Rajnandgaon district by taking money from Naxalites at the time of demonetization. ED has already arrested Ashwini Verma and his younger brother Tamesh who bought the land.
ED joined the investigation after an FIR was filed by the Chhattisgarh Police. Initial investigations have revealed that Ashwini Verma took money from Naxalites at the time of demonetization and was given to various individuals in lieu of purchase of food grains and agricultural products.
Earlier in 2018, Khairagarh Police caught Ashwani Verma of Marutola for delivering goods to naxalites. After this, the police continuously interrogated Ashwani and took him in remand. Sources reveal that Ashwani has confessed to returning Rs 30 lakhs to Naxalites and providing them daily use materials.
