Bhilai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted searches at the Bhilai residence of former Chhattisgarh chief minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel, officials aware of the details said. In a latest update, Bhupesh Baghel’s son, Chaitanya Baghel, has been arrested by the ED. This arrest comes hours after a search was conducted at the place of former Chhattisgarh CM, Bhupesh Baghel. Some reports also say that the search action is against the son of Bhupesh Baghel, who is involved in the liquor scam.
While the ED has not publicly revealed the specific case behind the raid, Baghel’s office suggested a political motive. They claimed the ED’s action was strategically timed, preceding by hours the Congress’s intent to highlight significant tree felling in Raigarh’s Tamnar tehsil on the final day of the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly’s monsoon session.

According to sources, ED raids are being conucted in cases related to money laundering and financial irregularities. However, it is not clear yet which specific case this raid is related to. It is being told that the name of former CM Bhupesh Baghel came up in the liquor scam, coal scam and Mahadev Satta App case, after which he was on the radar of ED.
Earlier on March 10, 2025, the ED team has simultaneously raided 14 locations of people associated with Bhupesh Baghel. The ED team has raided the house of former CM Bhupesh Baghel along with son Chaitanya Baghel. According to the information, the ED team can inquire in the coal scam and the Mahadev app case. Currently, the ED team is reviewing numerous important documents.
Congress has given a strong reaction to this raid. Congress says that on the instructions of BJP, ED has reached the Bhilai residence of Congress National General Secretary and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
