Korea, CG: An earthquake of moderate magnitude hit some parts of the Korea district on the intervening nights of Thursday and Friday, officials said on Friday.
Measuring around 4.6 on the Richter scale, tremors were felt in parts of Charcha, Baikunthpur. As per reports, two mine labours were injured while they were exploring the SECL Charcha Underground mines and felt sudden tremors. The injured have been referred to an Apollo hospital in Bilaspur.
The Charcha, Baikunthpur mines fall under the Central Coal fields categories of the South Eastern Coalfields Limited.
An earthquake of similar magnitude was experienced in the Korea district on 10 July. No casualties were reported and damage to property was documented by the officials engaged.
