Raipur: The e-auction process for sand mines in the state will begin on Friday, October 10th, first auction to be held through Reverse Auction Portal. In the first phase, 150 sand mines will be auctioned. District-wise NITs (Notice Inviting Tender) will be issued. On Thursday, a day before the e-auction, MSTC officials conducted training for Mineral Department officials and bidders in the auditorium of Satya Sai Hospital in Nava Raipur.
It is noteworthy that the state government recently signed an agreement with MSTC regarding the auction of sand mines. MSTC will provide technical support to the Mineral Department during the auction process. Following the training, officials finally resolved bidders’ concerns. Mahesh Babu, OSD for the Mineral Department, stated that tender invitations for 150 sand mines across the state will soon be issued. Interested bidders must register on the MSTC portal to participate in the auction process. The training included information on the auction rules and conditions and the documents required for bidding.
Earlier on Sunday, as Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the Chhattisgarh Mining Conclave 2025 in Nava Raipur said that scientific mining practices and digital governance are “writing a new story of growth and transparency” in the state. The event, held after a gap of nine years, saw a series of major agreements and policy launches aimed at modernising the state’s mineral sector. Sai also launched Khanij Online 2.0, DMF Portal 2.0, and a Reverse Auction Portal for sand mine e-auctions which are digital platforms meant to enhance transparency and ease of doing business in the sector. These included a memorandum of understanding between the Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad and the Directorate of Geology & Mining, Chhattisgarh, and another between Coal India and the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC).
Ban on sand ghats till 15 October
During the training, Deputy Director of Mineral Department Prachi Awasthi and Mineral Officer Hemant Cherpa, Awadhesh Barik, Yogendra Singh, Assistant Mineral Officer Umesh Kumar Bhargava, besides the district team under Raipur division were present. Let us tell you that under the rules of NGT, there is a ban on sand ghats from 15 June to 15 October. It is expected that the sand ghats will start functioning with a new system from 15 October. However, the Mineral Department has not made it public whether the 150 sand ghats are new or old? Because during the previous Congress government, 110 sand ghats were auctioned, whose time is said to be valid till April.
