Durg: During a meeting of the Durg municipal corporation at Mayor Council, Mayor Dhiraj Bakliwal announced concession of property tax . The municipal body also announced to exempt penalties on unpaid rents due to the lockdown.
As per the dialogue, all property owners will get a relief of 6% if paid by June 30 and 4% in October and subsequently 2% in November. Additionally, an annual increment of 10% tax has also been eradicated this year.
The Durg municipal body addressed 15 issues during the convene. It decided to rebuild the Chowpatty. The Drug Chowpatty was shut down a decade ago. This spot is now being directed to be reconstructed that would form a huge venue for entertainment for the city and the nearby districts.
Property Tax is one of the main sources of revenue for the ULB. Residential and Non-residential (Commercial) properties, situated within the limits of ULB, are assessed for tax. Based on such assessments, taxes are levied on the property owners. The information regarding all the new constructions, existing construction and modifications to the property, if any, are provided by the Town Planning Department for making necessary changes to tax assessment. The citizen has to register with the urban local body for taxation and assessments are made based on the physical dimensions of the property and other parameters to assess the taxes to the citizen.
