Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the three hotspots that had become a “persistent wound” for India — Naxalism, the northeast and Jammu and Kashmir — have been given “permanent solutions” by the Narendra Modi government, and these regions will soon become like the rest of the country.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, along with top officials from police and security agencies across the country, are present. Four sessions will be held today, with presentations from DGPs from each state. The focus will be on national security and emerging challenges, with a review of the implementation of previous recommendations to be viewed.
Besides Shah, the 60th edition of the closed-door, off-camera huddle of police chiefs from across the country at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur will also see the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval and the heads of central police organisations, including Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Kumar Deka.
Additionally, the increasing use of technology in women’s safety will be discussed. The session will also address topics such as the need for a robust mechanism for managing public protests, brainstorming on a roadmap for the return of Indian fugitives, and the widespread use of forensics and an emphasis on successful investigations.
