Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma declared a clear-cut victory in Narayanpur, where security forces had neutralised two senior members of the Central Committee of the Naxal insurgency. Sharma claimed that our incessant activities are gradually destroying the Maoist edifice as the high cadres are being killed at an alarming rate. He once again made his uncompromising commitment: by 2026, the armed Naxalism will be completely eradicated in Bastar.

Sharma, in reaction to the speculation on his mental condition amid his opposition to the suggestion by the former Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, in favor of talks with the Naxals, made it quite clear that his mind was not clouded. “I am laser-sharp on seeing that development penetrates into every nook and corner of Bastar,” he said. “Why then is Congress not supportive of the elimination of Naxalism? We already have a large pool of militants who would be ready to become a part of the mainstream society.”

In his turn to the empowerment of women, Sharma mentioned the opening of 51 new Mahatari Sadan centres, specially created centres where women can find the necessary services and training. “Improved facilities have long been a demand with women in our state, and we are, at last, giving them the best we have to offer. The new centres will be expanded to cover more women since 29 lakh women are already active in self-help groups.” He also introduced the project, which is a self-help group initiative aimed at increasing the role of women in the socio-economic life, and this is a major milestone in inclusive development.

Sharma provided GST 2.0 plans in the economic front. He clarified that the BJP will take the GST campaign to the shopkeepers, and senior party leaders would visit the local shops, buy goods to show conformity. He advised the shopkeepers to inform their customers about the new GST provisions and benefits, and that the practice will lead to increased transparency and ease in complying with tax among the traders and the consumers.

To conclude, the speech made by Deputy CM Sharma highlighted a two-pronged approach, which consisted of ruthlessly eliminating the Naxal presence and, at the same time, strengthening the empowerment of women and tax administration to create a safer and more successful Bastar by 2026.
