Bilaspur: In municipal elections, some images surface about the working style and the mentality of political leaders. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao witnessed one such inspiring scene when he exercised his voting rights with great humility in Bilaspur. He did not try to find out any special privileges, he went in the line with actual people, waiting to cast his vote.

Arun Sao arrived with his family early in the morning at the St. Francis Higher Secondary School polling station. Instead of going around the queue, like many politicians love to do, he waited alongside common people, which showed his dedication to democratic values. He voted, making no fuss or VIP treatment, in a manner of simplicity and integrity.

The voters at the polling station appreciated his gesture. The Deputy CM was beside the locals, who were happy to see the Deputy CM stand with them, proving how leadership does not mean holding a position. It is all about being with people. His act was in the vain spirit of democracy as every vote mattered irrespective of status or power.

On these same accusations, in a time when many political figures have complained about the fact that they feel special treatment, Arun Sao’s approach shines as a leader with a very distinct belief in equality and accessibility. It is a reminder that public representatives should still be close to the people they represent during the municipal elections.

His humility was liked by citizens and party workers alike and in his act of voting without any privileges, his public image is further strengthened. This reinforces faith in democracy in itself and mobilizes others in the electoral process.
