Raipur: Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Deepak Bej has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of engaging in mere propaganda for the Lok Sabha elections. Bej asserted that the BJP’s preparations for the elections are nothing more than a publicity stunt and lack substance. According to him, the BJP has no agenda beyond the Ram Mandir issue and avoids addressing critical concerns such as poverty, unemployment, and inflation.
Speaking about the BJP’s alleged neglect of key issues, Bej emphasized that the party does not fight elections on matters affecting the common people, such as poverty, unemployment, and inflation. He accused the BJP of crafting propaganda exclusively for elections, devoid of any real commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the public.
Moreover, Deepak Bej commented on the upcoming “Good Governance Day” celebration by the BJP on December 25, where the party plans to distribute bonuses to farmers in the state. Bej dismissed this move, stating that the farmers of Chhattisgarh are resilient and not swayed by such token gestures. He highlighted that the farmers deserve continuous support and genuine policies rather than sporadic bonuses timed around political events.
Regarding the organizational aspects of the Congress in Chhattisgarh, Bej expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He mentioned that consecutive meetings have been held at the state headquarters, with the participation of all office bearers and district presidents. Bej affirmed the party’s commitment to diligent preparation and hard work for the upcoming elections.
Addressing the recent appointment of Sachin Pilot as the in-charge for Chhattisgarh, Bej praised the former state in-charge, Kumari Selja, for her commendable work. He expressed optimism about Pilot’s appointment, describing him as a young and experienced leader who could bring benefits to Chhattisgarh.
Responding to queries about the fate of Congress initiatives during the BJP’s tenure, Bej stressed the importance of continuity in projects like Gobar Khareedi (purchase of dung) and Gauthan (village pastureland) schemes. He advocated for the continuation of initiatives like the Half Electricity Bill scheme, emphasizing their direct benefits to the public. Bej concluded by stating that these schemes, directly linked to the welfare of the people, should not be discontinued.
