Raipur: A health department analysis of data on COVID positivity rates in Chhattisgarh reported a decline to 0.14%. On August 17, path labs screened nearly 38,926 infected samples out of which only 56 samples yielded infected.

Additionally, the data released by the state health department registered no new cases in 9 districts namely, Balod, Bemetara, Kabirdham, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Surguja, Korea and Dantewada. 

One case each was reported from Rajnandgaon, Raipur, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Raigarh, Mungeli, Surajpur, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Narayanpur and Bijapur. While, only two patients each were detected in three districts namely Mahasamund, Bilaspur and Kondagaon. Several districts reported infectivity rates between 0-0.52 per cent.

The active count in the last 24 hours witnessed a significant decline by 101 cases. Currently, 1037 infected patients have been detected in the state. Nearly 156 patients recovered that took the cumulative count to 9,89,284. The death toll rose to 13,549. 

Under the national vaccination drive, India achieved a landmark of 56 crore vaccinations. Out of these 1,31,70,116 beneficiaries belonged to Chattisgarh. Nearly, 1,02,75,076 received the first dose while 1,02,75,076 were administered both.
