Chhattisgarh reported a rise in its black fungus cases. As per the data released by the state health bulletin 134 cases of the virus triggered infection are reported so far. The state reported its first death on 13 May at Sector-9 hospital. So far, three individuals succumbed to the fungal infection, and 2 recuperated.
Dr Subhash Mishra, the Director of State Epidemic Control and Spokesperson for COVID-19 control programme informed,” till date 134 cases have been detected and out of these, 110 are undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) while 3 have been operated and are recovering.”
The State notified Mucormycosis an Epidemic under the Epidemic Act of 1987. Under the notifiable disease rule, no hospital or medical centre with the capacity to treat Mucormycosis can deny admission to patients. Health officials said Amphotericin B injection used in treatment for black fungus will be provided to only government medical colleges, institutions and Covid-dedicated hospitals on payment.
Additionally, Dr K.R, District Chief Medical Officer reported 4 new infections in the state were recorded in the past 24 hours pushing the total count to 134. In an official statement he stated that one case is identified in Simga, the other in Bhatapara, Palari, and Balodabazar. Chhattisgarh, now ranking 11th, exited the worst hit list of nationally active cases recently. The Southern belt of the country followed by UP, Gujrat and Rajasthan are ahead of Bhupesh Baghel run state.
