Bilaspur: The Bilaspur High Court today heard the bail plea for the suspended ADG GP Singh. A single bench of Justice Deepak Tiwari has ordered the defence to submit the case diary and has issued a notice to the state govt for the same. However, no remarks on the bail plea submitted by GP Singh were issued by the HC.
GP Singh after being sent to 14-day judicial custody on 18th January had moved the HC urging bail to present his side of the case. He claimed that the case made by EOW was fabricated and demanded a chance to prove it under the constitutional right.
Singh was detained on January 10th by the Delhi Police in Noida after which he was produced before the court in Raipur on 12th January. A statement by the officials from EOW claimed that Singh wasn’t cooperating with the investigation. The statement read- “ In EOW’s case number 22/2021, accused suspended under the charges of Prevention of Corruption Act Sections 13b, 13(2) and IPC Sections 201, 467, 471, ADG Shri GP Singh, wasn’t cooperating with the investigation of the case, nor coming to the EOW office.”
After a raid was held between July 1 and 3rd 2021, a case was registered against GP Singh for possessing disproportionate assets. He was charged with corruption and sedition for’ allegedly possessing ‘sensitive information and inflammatory bytes in writing against the govt of India. He was denied protection from arrest after he first moved to the Chhattisgarh HC on November 26th.
