Raipur. The court has rejected the bail plea of Amit Baghel, state president of the Johar Chhattisgarh Party. He has been sent to jail on 14 days’ judicial remand. It should be noted that on December 6th, while Amit Baghel was approaching the Devendranagar police station to surrender, police arrested him about 20 meters before the station. He was then produced in court, where he was granted three days’ police remand.
Today, after his remand ended, Amit Baghel was again produced in court, where he was sent on 14-day judicial remand. It should be noted that on October 27th, Johar Chhattisgarh Party chief Amit Baghel had made comments about Agrasen Maharaj and Jhulelal, the patron deity of the Sindhi community, regarding the destruction of the statue of Chhattisgarh Mata. In fact, on October 26, 2025, the statue of Chhattisgarh Mata was vandalized at VIP Chowk in Raipur. Upon learning of this, Amit Baghel arrived at the scene the next day and created a huge uproar. A clash also broke out between Baghel supporters and police officers. Following the uproar, the statue of Chhattisgarh Mata was reinstalled. Police arrested the accused near the Ram Temple the following morning. The accused was mentally ill and had vandalized the statue while intoxicated.
