Raipur: The coronavirus tally in Chhattisgarh crossed the 85,000-mark on Sunday with the addition of nearly 2000 cases in a single day, health officials said.

Chhattisgarh recorded 1949 new cases on Sunday after reporting over 3000 cases for the past few days. The total case count now stands at 86,183.

The death toll went up to 677 after 13 people succumbed to the infection in the last 24-hours.

Of them, 10 died in Raipur, three males were from Bilaspur.

The highest number of 812 new positive cases were reported from Raipur, followed by 257 in Durg, 107 each from Balod and Kanker , 89 in Bilaspur among others.

However, after many days, 5 districts reported zero new case of coronavirus, namely, Gorella-pendra-Marwahi, Jashpur, Kondagaon, Sukma and Bijapur.

Meanwhile, 921 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on Sunday and 651 people completed home isolation period successfully on the same day. Taking the total tally of recovered cases to 47,653.

The number of cases in Raipur, the worst-hit district in the state, rose to 27,711 and death toll to 319 in the district, the state health bulletin said.

At 9,593, Raipur has the highest number of active cases in the state, while Durg has 4,346 such cases.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh has conducted 9,29,701 tests till 20 September after 11,246 tests samples were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Notably, A complete and stricter lockdown from night of September 21 to 28 across Raipur district. Subsequently, Balod district administration has also announced to go on lockdown from September 22 to 30.

Bilaspur, Dhamtari and Durg districts will also witness lockdown in the wake of rising in the coronavirus cases rapidly in the districts.
