Raipur: Ever since the covid 2nd wave has hit the nation, Chhattisgarh has remained one of the most affected states with a spike in cases every single day. Currently, the active corona cases in the states have crossed over 1.17 lakh with a total of 8312 deaths. Though the recovery rate is appreciable, the state still sleeps with fear in its eyes and heart.
In the latest development, it has been found that 21 prisoners in the Jashpur district jail have been found positive for the virus. It is a worrying cause as they have mixed with other prisoners and now it is feared by the authorities that many others might have contracted the virus from them. A separate covid unit has been created inside the cell for the positive prisoners and the rest has been secluded from them.
All the prisoners in the Jashpur district jail would now be tested for the virus and necessary measures will be taken thereafter. Earlier, 5 prisoners from the Chhattisgarh central jail of Raipur and Durg have died due to the virus. So far, almost 70 covid positive cases have been reported in the jails of the state. All the jails in the state are very overcrowded and this remains an issue to worry about for the jail authorities if such infections occur inside the jail premises.
