Raipur, Chhattisgarh | The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, today set out on the streets in the capital to take a look at the availability of stock of essential commodities, food grains and evaluate the fair prices during the lockdown.
Chief Minister interacted with local vegetable vendors and buyers near the interstate bus stand in Ravan-bhata and inquired about the prices and sales of vegetables.
Chief Minister also reviewed the control room and emergency food supply cell of food grains to meet the need of destitute and helpless people at the Indoor Stadium near Budha Talab. Chief Minister was briefed about the food supply cell, which is a collaboration of district administration with various voluntary organizations, working 24 hours and distributing ready made food to the needy people. There are about 140 voluntary organizations and about 5 thousand volunteers are engaged in this arrangement. Bhupesh baghel widely appreciated their efforts and showed gratitude for their services.
During the tour with the Chief Minister, Dr.S. Bharatidasan and SP Mo Arif Sheikh, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Raipur, Mr. Saurabh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Dr.Gaurav Singh were also present. Officials said that a special food cell has been set up for beggars, destitute, needy, daily wage laborers, retarded people and people who cannot go out for livelihood. A large network of food has been prepared and its reach has been made to every end of the city. The biggest thing is that voluntary organizations, service organizations and citizens are also coming forward and helping in this task. Control rooms have been set up in all the 8 zones of the Municipal Corporation, which are marking the families who are not having ration card or are having inconvenience in getting food grains or families who do not have ration card or are rationed due to any reason. In order to help such families, 15,000 packets of food grains are being prepared so that their needs can be met.
The Chief Minister has also appealed to the people or workers of Chhattisgarh who have gone out, that wherever they are, all arrangements for them will be ensured through the local district administration. He also appealed to the people of the state to follow the lockdown and stay in their own houses. They will continue to have all the necessary materials.
