Raipur : There seems to be no respite from the coronavirus anytime soon as the caseload in Chhattisgarh crossed the grim milestone of 1 lakh with an addition of 3,869 new cases on Saturday.

According to the health bulletin, Chhattisgarh has recorded 1,02,461 cases since the first case emerged in the month of March.

On Saturday, Chhattisgarh also recorded 23 deaths, taking the total toll to 817. Raipur has the highest number of fatalities with 387.

In Chhattisgarh, the districts with the highest positive cases include Raipur (31,777), Durg (10,213), Rajnandgaon (7,286), Bilaspur (6,914) and Raigarh(5,658).

Discharges on Saturday seemed to be on the higher end as the state put up a number of 3,187. So far, 70,955 people have recovered from the virus in the state, this includes the patients who were under home isolation.

The state reported over 69% of the total cases between Sept 1 to Sept 26. Over 69,000 people in the state tested positive this month so far.

Meanwhile, The state government allotted Rs 16.5 crore for developing oxygen plant in seven government hospitals including Ambedkar in Raipur, CIMS in Bilaspur and district hospitals of Raigarh, Ranandgaon, Bilaspur, Ambikapur and Jagdalpur.

The National Health Mission has directed to complete the tender procedure for setting up oxygen plants in these hospitals.

Chhattisgarh has been the fastest-growing hotspot of late, even as its testing rate remains much lower than other states. So far, the state has conducted 10, 34,460 tests which includes 18,847 tests in the last 24 hours.
