Chhattisgarh: On Friday, Chhattisgarh crossed the mark of 2000 with 70 new coronavirus confirmed cases recorded in the state. Chhattisgarh witnessed a huge hike in the number of cases since the central government allowed migrant workers to return to their home.

The total number of covid_19 infected cases reached to 2018 including 703 active cases and as many as 10 people who died from the disease. On a brighter side, 103 people discharged on Friday, taking the tally to 1305 which comprises 64% of the total cases.

Of these new cases, 18 are from Janjgir-jhampa, 17 are from Surajpur, 9 recorded from Raipur, 8 are from Balodabazar, 6 from Jashpur district, 4 from Mungeli, 3 are from Rajnandgaon, 2 from Bilaspur an 1 each case has been reported from Durg, Koriya and Balrampur.

Reportedly, 1 death has been recorded from State’s Rajnandgaon. The patient was admitted for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection(SARI) and tested positive of covid19. He took his last breath on Friday.

With a population of 2.9 crore, Chhattisgarh has conducted over 1,20,523 tests. Of which, 2018 have tested positive till date including 703 active cases and 1305 are said to be recovered from the virus, as per the data released by state health department.

In all, 26 districts are affected from the pandemic outbreak in the state. Korba had the highest number of Covid-19 cases at 257 confirmed infections, followed by Balodabazar(202), Raipur(192), Janjgir-Champa(180), Bilaspur(170), Mungeli(119) and so on.

Meanwhile, The total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 3,80.532. On Thursday, the total number of COVID-19 deaths rose to 12,573. On the other hand, Coronavirus infected more than 8.3 million people across the globe. The worldwide death toll from COVID-19 infection increased to 4,45,535.
