Raipur: Manish Maheshwari, MD Twitter India was questioned by the Delhi Police in Bengaluru over the Congress Toolkit Case. It is reported that the Delhi police’ special cell on May 31 interrogated the Indian Head of the giant microblogging site. The interrogation revolved around Sambit Patra’s tweet being flagged as ‘manipulated media’.

Delhi Police wrote to Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari for the first time on May 21, asking him to share all information the company had about the ‘toolkit’ case. Sources in the Delhi Police said Maheshwari responded to this request in an email on May 21. 

Unsatisfied with his initial response, Delhi Police wrote to Maheshwari for a second time on May 23, asking him to join the probe. Subsequently, Manish Maheshwari replied saying he “does not represent Twitter in India and hence bears no responsibility for content decisions”. The MD of Twitter India also urged the Delhi Police to withdraw the notice sent to him.”

Following another erosive response from Maheshwari, Delhi Police on May 24 visited the Twitter offices in South Delhi and Gurgaon. In the fourth and last notice served to Maheshwari on May 27, reverting with his residence address at Bengaluru, he prompted the Delhi Police to make a trip on May 31. 

Media reports informed that a team led by DCP Pramod Kushwaha made the trip to Bengaluru seeking information on Sambit Patra’s alleged Congress Toolkit Post flagging.
