Raipur: In response to another notice sent by the Raipur Civil Lines Police regarding the “Congress toolkit case”, BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra has sought another seven days to record his statement in the toolkit case. His lawyer sent a reply to the police notice via mail.
Raipur SSP Ajay Yadav reported that Sambit Patra’s lawyer sought the extension through an e-mail. Citing the restrictions imposed due to the virus, it is reported that the lawyer also urged the police officials to forward the questions written either as a physical copy or as a soft copy for questioning on Wednesday.
The case was filed at the Civil lines police station following a complaint lodged by Akash Sharma, president of the National Students’ Union of India’s (NSUI) Chhattisgarh unit who alleged that Singh, Patra and others had circulated a fake “toolkit” using the letterhead of the Congress.
A similar notice was served to Mr Singh asking him to remain in his residence at 12:30 pm on Monday for the recording of the statement in connection with the case.
Recently, Twitter flagged Mr Patra’s tweet on the alleged toolkit as ‘manipulated media.” Following which, the Congress demanded flagging of all tweets from the BJP members. According to Congress, toolkit documents flagged by the BJP are “fake” and filed a police complaint against its leaders.
