Raipur: After announcing the dates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, all political parties are gearing up for the polls. Today, the Pradesh Congress headquarters at Rajiv Bhawan in Raipur witnessed a press conference. During the event, Congress leaders outlined 5 guarantees for the upcoming elections. They stated that if the Congress government comes to power this time, women will receive ₹1 lakh annually. While the BJP government provides ₹1000 to women, Congress promises ₹8333 per month. Additionally, under the Congress-led central government, MNREGA workers will receive ₹400 per day. Furthermore, MSP will be given legal guarantee.
Addressing the journalists, Pradesh Congress President Deepak Baij stated that the party has pledged 5 guarantees for the country’s people in the Lok Sabha elections. Congress believes in providing legal protection to women, youth, farmers, laborers, and ensuring their inclusion in the mainstream of development. Therefore, the party has promised justice for farmers, youth, women, and laborers.
In the Women’s Justice aspect, the Congress will implement the Mahalakshmi scheme, under which every woman will receive ₹1 lakh per year, i.e., ₹8333 per month. The BJP government in Chhattisgarh provides only ₹1000 per month to mothers and sisters, i.e., ₹12,000 annually. However, the Congress government will provide 8 times more to women. The Congress government will also recruit half of the central jobs for women.
Moreover, the Asha, Anganwadi, and Midday Meal workers will be doubled in the central assistance to work under Congress’s government. Legal assistance will be provided in every Panchayat to protect women’s legal rights. Hostels will be established for working women in all district headquarters.
In the Farmer’s Justice aspect, Congress promises 5 guarantees for the prosperity of farmers. MSP will be given legal status. A special law will be passed in Parliament for this purpose based on the Dr. MS Swaminathan Commission’s formula. The MSP will be fixed by doubling it from ₹200 to ₹400 per day for agricultural laborers. The Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme will be redesigned to ensure guaranteed payment directly into bank accounts within 30 days of crop damage. The party will formulate an import-export policy for agricultural products and implement it, focusing on the welfare and interests of farmers. It will be based on stability and forecasts, as well as the interests of farmers. It will also exempt farmers from GST. Modifications will be made in the GST system for items used in agriculture to provide tax relief.
