Sarguja, CG: CG Congress Legislators’ have written to CG CM informing them about drought-like situations in the Sarguja division.
Brihaspat Singh, the MLA from Ramanujganj assembly constituency of Sarguja in a letter demanded the chief to declare three tribal-dominated districts such as Balrampur, Jashpur and Ambikapur as drought-hit regions as they received scanty rainfall. He further demanded compensation for the crop loss, employment-oriented work and relief work for the people of these three districts.
The district in the monsoon season 2022 received very scanty rainfall. As per the state Met dept. the district received less than 40 per cent rain as of July 30, 2022. He further added that no job-oriented work was being carried out to compensate for the loss and provide people with a livelihood.
“My colleagues from Kunkuri constituency U D Minj, Culab Kamro from Sonhat constituency have also written to the chief minister expressing their concern over the grave situation developing in the three districts. Meteorological data said that these districts have received less than 40% rainfall as of July 30, 2022. While crops like maize and jawar were completely damaged, paddy crops can be rarely seen in the fields. The state government should at least declare these districts drought-hit and then start a survey. The work under the employment guarantee scheme has also been stopped by the central government adding to woes. If these districts are declared drought-hit, they will be eligible to get some central fund to compensate for the crop loss,” MLA Brihaspat Singh told reporters. Other elected public representatives are also writing to the chief minister on this serious issue, he said.
